The standard Conductive Rail for Wind Turbines (Compact Busway) is under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Low-voltage Switchgear and Controlgear (TC266), with the China Electrical Equipment Industrial Association as the competent authority. Officially released on August 1, 2025, the standard shall come into force on February 1, 2026. It systematically specifies the service conditions, interface characteristics, structural requirements, performance requirements, test verification, routine inspection, nameplates and marking, packaging, transportation and storage methods for compact conductive rails for wind turbines (hereinafter referred to as wind power busways). The issuance and implementation of this standard marks an important milestone in the standardization and normalization of wind power busway products in China.
Conductive rails for wind turbines (compact busways) serve as key power transmission equipment inside wind turbine towers, tasked with safely and efficiently transmitting electric power generated in the nacelle down to the electrical system at the tower base. With the rapid sustained development of China's wind power industry and continuous growth in the single-unit capacity of wind turbines, higher requirements have been put forward for the current-carrying capacity, reliability, environmental adaptability and installation convenience of power transmission equipment within turbine towers. The newly issued standard provides unified technical foundations for the design, manufacture, inspection and application of wind power busways. It helps improve the consistency of product quality, cut construction and operation & maintenance costs of wind farms, and drives the wind power industry toward safer and higher-quality development.
Major technical revisions incorporated in this standard include adjusted and expanded scope of application to better fit practical demands of mainstream wind power projects. In light of technical advances and field experience accumulated for wind power busways in recent years, structural and performance requirements have been further refined and upgraded. Test verification and routine inspection procedures have also optimized testing methods and judgement criteria to guarantee the safety and reliability of products during practical operation.
The enforcement of GB/T 33346-2025 delivers clear technical guidelines for manufacturers of wind power busways, as well as authoritative references for the design, procurement, construction and acceptance of wind power projects. The promotion and implementation of this standard will vigorously boost technological progress and industrial upgrading within China's wind power busway sector, and offer solid technical support for the high-quality development of domestic wind power industry and the achievement of the "Dual Carbon" goals.
